Thank you very much, this theme is the one i need for my site.

What a nice theme!

Thanks a lot ;)

I’m having a bit of a problem installing it and using it with widgets. The usual widgets tab doesn’t show up under presentation and when I try to “activate” sidebar widgets, I get this:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare widget_search() (previously declared in /wp-content/themes/Aspire/functions.php:12) in wp-content/plugins/widgets/widgets.php on line 726

So basically, I cannot change the widgets or move them around or anything.

Any ideas?

Wow! This is really nice! I honestly was surprised since a vast majority of free themes are … well, kind of suck.

GOOD JOB ON NOT SUCK!

Very good design, I really liked this theme - it’s so different comparing to all this standard ones people develop.

great job

GORGEOUS and I’ve already implemented it at my site. LOVE IT.

Great job guys! It is quite clear a lot of time was spent developing this theme. I wish there were more theme developers like you out there!

Gideon… which wordpress version are you using? I installed this on two of my blog with not problem

Very nice theme. I’d love to see this in a fluid width. What do you think?

I too, would love to see this in a fluid width. at 800×600 - this theme has massive scrollbars…

This plugin doesnt look fine in this theme…
http://blog.jalenack.com/archives/democracy/

I something wrong with the download file? I have uploaded and tried to activate this theme on my site both through one-click and CP, and despite several tries, it’s a no-go.

Would love to use — it’s a beautiful theme. Help?

Okay, for some reason it doesn’t work through one-click, and to get it unzipped in CP, (at least w/ siteground) you hav eto create a folder for it first….won’t do it automatically.

But it’s done, it’s up, and I totally love it!

Thank you!

One problem when in comments mode — the sidebar drops to the bottom.

Wow! This is an awesome template. I really, really like it!

I love it very much!thanks^_^

I’m using 2.3.1

I’ll try it on another install and see what happens.

Very nice old looking skin, good job

I’m using it on myfavoriteword.com, and I was wondering how to go about (I know this sounds strange) removing the square date tabs on posts — i.e., have no dates on posts and pages.

Gorgeous theme, BTW. Thanks!

I adore this theme, but had problems trying to install it. I’ve made no changes, but get an error message when trying to view the index:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: the_title_attribute() in /home/bleedi2/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/Aspire/single.php on line 15

When I try to view the archives I get a fatal error on line 13.

When I click on a tag, I get
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: the_title_attribute() in /home/bleedi2/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/Aspire/archive.php on line 32

I’ve made no changes to the stuff I downloaded from your website, and it seems like nobody else is having problems with this. Any suggestions? I’m using wordpress 2.2.2 apparently, if that matters. I also made sure I downloaded the WP version and not the Blogger version.

It does not work with blogger yet. Hope you fix the problem soon.

This is a beautiful theme and I want to use it! I keep getting the message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: language_attributes() in /mnt/w0008/d21/s09/b01741b1/www/faerygold.com/wp-content/themes/aspire/header.php on line 3

Can you help please? Thank you.

Really beautiful theme! I’ve bookmarked your site as I’m eager to see what else you come up with!

Hi, that was really fantastic work , but there is a problem . I am using word press which is Persian or Farsi.
I want to ask you if you can please translate this theme to Farsi , if Farsi styles are unknown to you , you can search on Google.com and then you will find some way to translate this to Farsi .
Please do that, because there are many people who like this theme and they wanted when its Farsi.
We will have many problem if it is English.
Thanks a lot. I am waiting for your answer. Have a great day .

check this one out http://www.naghies.ir/aspire-persian-stylesheet-680.html. It looks like what yiu’re looking for.

Let us know if that helps:)

I posted earlier because this theme wasn’t working when I installed. I assumed, correctly, it was something I had or hadn’t done. I updated to the most recent version of wordpress and that solved the issue. Since then, I’ve had NO problems with this theme. It looks super great and I love it. Just wanted to throw a solution out there if anyone else was having the same problem I was.

Thank you so much for creating this theme. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Hi again
Thanks for your answer, but you know what , he translate it half…i mean half is Persian and the other half is not Persian . I really dont know what to do .
When i write something its looking so bad and its a problem .
Thanks if you help me

I’m getting an error with the theme:

“Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/mozart/public_html/wp-content/themes/aspire/index.php on line 63″

This happens with every search done on the search box at:

I’m having the same problem that Jane posted about on December 15 (ironic we’re both named Jane!).

When I go into the single page view, or comments view, the two sidebars drop to the bottom.

what is the timestamp format?

That happens to me when I added some stuff on the side-bar. And I can’t fix it back again. Take a look

I love this template!

Has anybody reported that the blog tag line does not appear on the blog while using this template? can this be adjusted?

As a future request, is there a way the two side-bars can be separated so one can be on the left and one on the right of the main posts?

Thank you!

Comme une image says on January 31st, 2008 at 11:00 pm

@ Jeffrey K. > I tried to add it below blog title but everything messed up.
So I modified header.php this way :

[h1][a href="[?php echo get_option('home'); ?]/” title=”[?php echo bloginfo('description'); ?]“][?php bloginfo('name'); ?][/a][/h1]

NB : replace [] by usual HTML brackets.

To add the tagline, you also have to modify some styles in styles.css. I’m working on several changes to this theme which I will release, but I’m a ways off. To do this yourself, modify the following styles:

#head: Change height from 250px to 260px.

.header: Change height from 250px to 260px.

.logo: Change position from absolute to relative.

Add this line:

.logo h2 {font: bold 18px/120% Georgia; padding: 0 0 10px 20px; margin-right: 16px; marting-top: -10px;}

Dang! There’s a type in the above line. Here’s the correct line:

.logo h2 {font: bold 18px/120% Georgia; padding: 0 0 10px 20px; margin-right: 16px; margin-top: -10px;}

Thank you, Comme une image and David, I will tweak as you suggest and see how it goes.

I am not a developer, so never would have figured this out.

Looking forward to the upcoming theme tweaks. I have been getting a lot of positive comments about the theme!

Any ETA for it?

Well, I hope to have it in shape in a couple weeks. Here’s what I’m adding in addition to displaying the tagline:
- Support for specifying how you want your sidebar laid out - single or double on right, single or double on left, single on left and right.
- Adding a full-width sidebar at the top when double-width is selected.
- Adding support for a bunch of plugins (WP-Email, WP-Print, WP-PostViews, Cross-References).
- Fixing various problems I’ve run in to.

There are a few other things, but these are the biggies. I’ll post a comment here when I’m done.

[...] Aspire [...]

thanks for that theme, i was wondering if i will be able to find a theme that gives the pharoanic impression , and finally i got it
thanks again

Well, I was able to make the changes David listed above, but no change on my blog. I could not figure out where or how to make the changes Comme une image suggested. Do both changes need to be made?

Comme une image says on February 9th, 2008 at 9:44 am

Jeffrey, if you really want to customize your pages, you should try and learn some HTML/CSS basics ! ;-)

CSS is for presentation (= styles).
PHP is for content.
David’s modifications :
— add 10 pixel of height to the title zone
— specify a “h2″ style for the title zone

So… what he didn’t say is that you have to add some h2 content after you h1 content (in header.php)

<div class="logo">
<h1>...</h1>
<h2><?php echo bloginfo(’description’);?></h2>
</div>

Love this theme, very much, but I can’t make the date show up in the box, like it’s supposed to. I matched everything up to the html on your sample blogspot.

Is there something I need to change in the settings of blogger to get it to work?

What a gorgeous theme! I’d love to use it, but when I click the blogger download link, it takes me a site but no actual download begins. Help!
callmeabookworm at gmail dot com

Hey Great templates! I just downloaded the blogger version and it worked fine.

hopefully you will be releasing a blogger version of the blue jeans 3 columns?? http://www.infocreek.com/webdesign/free-wordpress-theme-coming-up-next-is-blue-jeans.html

looks cool and I have a blog that needs just that!

kwolf aBookworm you may want to try again or let me know if you need a copy .

I tried again just now and could download it just fine. Thanks!! I’ll try to apply it to one of my blogs and will you let you know if I need any help.

Thanks again for this gorgeous creation!

Thank you, Comme une image. I know I need to learn more about these things, but the time, oh the time!

I added the line as you mentioned, and while it added a line of text under my title, the line of text is, interestingly, the same as the title itself. Odd.

I checked and rechecked the additions I made to css and header, but cannot see anything different than what you both stated.

Dear Friend,

This Blogger template cannot view the date of post correctly. I think the link to JavaScript in its code (http://www.blogger.magznetwork.com/templates/mummys-note/changedate.js) couldn’t load. Please find me this file.
I found changeDate() function isn’t working when this file hasn’t.

Please click here to see this error: http://chuyenla.moohay.com

Thank you a lot!

I’m having the same problem with the Blogger version as kwolf. I can’t get the dates to show up in the date box, just a blank box.

someguy and Nhan…I just downloaded the same file… works like charm! The you follow the instruction in the read me file? did you set your date format?

u come with very beautiful theme….thanks….i wl try to tweak as u said.

I really like your theme, and just switched to it yesterday, thanks!

I ran into a problem with your style.css over-riding the sociable.css for the Sociable Plugin. Your definition of “display: block” (defined in “#main ul”) over-rode the inline definition that sociable defaults to.

I just posted about a workaround, but since you mentioned that you are updating your theme soon anyway, I wonder whether there isn’t a better way to handle this conflict.

Thanks again!

P.S. Here is the direct link to my posting about this problem:

http://www.opticality.com/blog/2008/02/23/firefox-dom-inspector/

another guy says on February 24th, 2008 at 8:57 am

I got the same problem too. The date box is completely blank, it doesnt show the date. Please tell me how to fix this.

And how could I modify this to become a 2-column version ?

Thanks

I can’t put it on my blog… in blogspot. I’m only read the code html in my blog, I can’t see the image of this beautiful template. Please, help me.

@ another guy » I tweaked it in a 2 columns version, but it’s a french version now ;-)
Contact me on my site (since you didn’t left any address) if you want some info.

I am also experiencing this date in the post problem, if anyone know how to correct this, please let us know!

Hi,

I’m trying to use this theme. Can you please let me know what is the color code for the sidebar widgets for my AdSense? Thanks!

See how to solve the date problem on my blog!
http://cutiecraft.blogspot.com

When I use the XHTML validation link on this theme it always gives a warning:

Conflict between Mime Type and Document Type

This is due to the DOCTYPE being set to XHTML 1.1 and the Content-Type met tag specifying text/html instead of application/xhtml+xml. This happens because the theme calls bloginfo(’html_type’) to set the content type, which is set to text/html by default.

I did a little research to see if there were any XHTML recommendations for WordPress. Sure enough there are. Check out http://codex.wordpress.org/HTML_to_XHTML.

I’m curious why XHTML 1.1 is specified by this theme? Have you worked out a way to make it pass XHTML validation without any warnings?

Thanks,
David

Hmm, interesting. When I changed the html_type option to application/xhtml+xml, my browser (IE7) stopped displaying the site and instead wanted to download the generated document. Looks to me like the world isn’t ready for XHTML 1.1.

I’m having trouble with the dates, too. It look slike Dave (above) figures it out but his are blue- and I tried to copy his coding, but it made mine blue, too. I’m hoping it’s an easy fix- enlighten me please.

I fixed the date problem at my site and all I did was follow this read me file that was included with the template download, (very carefully) and to the “T”. Site runs great now!! Click on my name to visit my site and see for yourself! Below is the read me file enclosed with the template I downloaded.

Installation Instruction

1. Login to your Blogger Dashboard
2. Go to Template > Edit HTML
3. Upload XML Template file (don’t copy & paste code directly because many people had a problem with it)
4. Please don’t preview your blog just yet. Go to Template > Page Element. Add at least one link to “Top Menu” widget if this is a new blog
5. Go to Settings > Formatting, choose Timestamp style: “Wednesday, January 30, 2008″ (or what ever the date is on your end maintaining that date format)
6. That’s It!

Mrs. Hannigan, if you follow those steps above you shouldn’t have any problems at all. Choosing the timestamp style I believe is the KEY to the fix!!

Hope it works for you!!

Emily, the hex decimal number you need to match up your adsense background is (DEB968).

Use a color picker to help you adjust your colors. I use the one in a free program I downloaded called Paint.net, it’s a knock off of Adobe Photoshop with all the bells and whistles. And did I mention that it is free?

Still loving the theme, and looking forward to the new version!

A suggestion - many of my visitors cannot find where to leave comments, as the default text states “No Comments.” Could this say something else, such as “Click here to Leave a Comment,” or “2 Comments. Click Here to Leave Another One” ?

Thank you.

Thanks Dave! just like everyone, I don’t seems to read “read me” files :)

but that did the magic without having to cut or paste some special things!

Hi Dave,

Thank you, thank you so much for the hex decimal number. I was on the verge of giving up and my changing theme!

I’ve also just downloaded the program from Paint.net. Thanks for letting me know!

Hey Jeff,
does your “no comments” change when someone leaves a comment? Like, does it say “1 comment”?

And Abay - I didn’t read the damn read me file at first either, LOL!!!

Hi Emily,
No problem, glad I could help ya!! I wanted to tell you about another program I use called snagit you can download a trial of it here http://www.techsmith.com/download/trials.asp
It will capture any part of a screen and you can save it as a photo and then open it in paint.net to help you determine the actual colors that you are trying to match. Works like a charm!

Yes, it changes to “1 Comment,” but I am not sure this is clear enough for new readers to know that if that is clicked, then they can comment, too. I get a lot of readers new to blogs, and they are not really clear how they can comment themselves.

Hi Dave,

Thanks so much for the heads up. I’ve got SnagIt now too :D though I haven’t the chance to try it out.

Jeff,

With regards to the No Comments / 0 Comments issue, this is how I solved it at my site (www.facingdiabetes.com):

Go to the Main Index Template (index.php) and find the following line:

Change the “No Comments” to “0 Comments”.

Great idea! Thank you.

i use the blogger version but i cant find the blog archive or calendar..can i fix this?how ..please help me
also in labels dont see the numbers..what happens?
thanks

I love this template, and have followed the README instructions for Blogger meticulously but date stamp will not show up… just says ‘undefined’ in it’s place. Am using correct date format. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I really like your theme.
Thanks again!

Very Beautiful template, I use blogger version.

Thank you!

Hi –thank you so much for this incredible theme and for all the comments. I am new to this and really tried to even find that read me? mentioned and still can’t. I went into settings and changed date stamp, etc. and nothing yet. I don’t know html, but am trying to learn as much as i can. I really need some help with making the date work (if not it says undefined?), with learning how to add an email to friend icon while still keeping the details of theme, also how to print each post (tried a lot of suggestions, but it hasn’t worked yet). that’s about it -other than that, it’s perfect!!! Any help would really be appreciated!
Meredith

I forgot to show an ex of how it worked, but shut off all the nice details of this template
a test site

http://legacytree2.blogspot.com/

thank you again -sincerely!

OK
i read readme and followed it in another test blog and it worked! Now -i just need to find out if i have to start everything over (all details and widgets, etc.) or if i can fix it now that it has been previewed, etc?

Also –i am really hoping to find out how to add an email a friend icon and also a print a post icon.

Thanks!!!

How do I use it on a blog hosted by Wordpress.com such as mine?

I fixed the date problem by adding this code above </body>

<script>
function changeDate(d){
var da = d.split(’ ‘);
day = “<div class=’day’>”+da[2].replace(/,/,”")+”</div>”; // 12
month = “<div class=’month’>”+da[1].slice(0,3)+”</div>”; // December
document.write(day+month);
}
</script>

Help!

I’ve implemented the aspire layout to my blog , however I can not get the ‘date’ to display correctly. In the upper left corner of the posts there is a lil orange box that simply says ‘undefined’. I have gone to my settings and changed the date format and tried every one of them..to no avail. Is this something that needs to be changed/fixed in the HTML? If so how and where?

Thank you in advance!

Slainte’

Mad

Actually now that I look carefully none of the other post options appear either..such as *trackbacks* *links to this post* *email* etc etc and so on.

Very nice template and it blends with my website perfectly but one question. how do i put the dates in those squares? check my site and you will understand.

http://thoseoldbooks.blogspot.com

Nhan - you really don’t need that code to make the date show up. I have 6 blogs working with the same template and they all work and look fine “out of the box”.

Tolkin, did you follow the instruction in the read me file?

Read me file? You have dates and yours came with a read me file???

re-downloaded the thing Again. Set up a test site. Same problem…followed the alleged read me instructions..nada..no fix same result the lil orange box for the date simply says UNDEFINED.

yes i did everything… well it works perfect except the comment page that its not modified and the date box..

the date box is messed(undefined) up for me as well…I created this blog as a test after I tried it on my other blog…but I lost all my widgets is that suppost to happen and only thing that stayed was my catergories and the frame didn’t go around all of them…please help me I love this aspire theme so much…and I want to use it

Your subject unusual is attractive I to like

Hi, i dont speak much english, im spanish.
I like aspire, but I have problems: the date doesn´t appear in the brown square..
And i can´t upload pictures on the navbar… =S

can you help me?

PD: sorry for my bad english

I have tried everything possible. EVERYTING!!! THe date still refuses to show up :( HELP!!

I am currently using Aspire Theme in my blog, OnlyinSilence.com, running on WP2.5. I am not so versed with the codes and I need a step by step guide on how to put a graphic on my header. Thanks ;o)

Will this very nice theme be available in a buggfixed WP 2.5-version? That would be great.

Hi. I would like to use the template in 3 column but when I click on the Download 3 column blogger demo, I get a jeans3 template. Can you please tell me how I can download this template with 3 column as its really very nice. Thanks

gabrielle says on April 11th, 2008 at 3:59 pm

Hi. I have downloaded the 3 column template. Tnx. I would like to interchange the date and month in the post but I cant seem to do it. How can it be done? Thanks.

Gabrielle - it is easy.. search for this string in the templates - ” php the_time(’F jS’)”

(’F jS’) is what you are interested in. The “F” is the month and jS is the day (j the day and S the extension after the date).

Hope that helps

Wonderful template BTW, I’ll be implementing over the weekend

some help needed when I tried to use this template all my labels, archieves didn’t show up is it a way to fix this and date format was messed up…can someone walk me through this

oh yeah I am trying to use this on blogger

butterfly229 says on April 11th, 2008 at 10:30 pm

I feel totally stupid. I can’t get this to open - any of them. Once I open the Zip it says “The document “jeand3c.xml” could not be opened. I have a .mac Does that make a difference and if so, does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get a template for the mac.
Thanks much!!

Beautiful theme, exactly what we wanted. Thank you so much

gabrielle says on April 24th, 2008 at 2:54 am

Thanks Max for the help on changing the date and the month for this template. But Im using the blogger version and cant seen to find what you were saying:
“search for this string in the templates - ” php the_time(’F jS’)”

(’F jS’) is what you are interested in. The “F” is the month and jS is the day (j the day and S the extension after the date).

In the html of the template. i tired interchanging the .content .date .month but the date comes out missing. I also tried modifying the font size but still the date comes out missing.

How can I interchange them? Thanks again.

I was wondering why when you upload to blogger, all the widgets we have are deleted? and is there a way to save those widgets for inclusion back into the blog?

I’m new to Wordpress and themes, how do you edit this theme to be a two column theme? Removing comments, tags, posts, etc.

Excellent job! I love this theme! Very elegant and beautiful. So versatile that it can be used by girls or boys.

Will you be adding to it that font size thing and open link in new window feature that Duffy has? ~_~

I’m with Steven… I need to change this to a two column. Ihave items appearing twice. HELP:-(

Aspire is a BEAUTIFUL layout. I have not seen anything like it before! If I have one suggestion, it would be to have a 2 column layout. I (personally) like having the body of my blog WIDE, and take up all but the sidebar.

Any plans of doing this?

Regardless of the answer - THANKS a bunch, you really have some wonderful themes here!

I’ve FINALLY got it to work, but can’t figure out how to add the date. Can someone help?
Thanks in advance
